Deerfield Beach:

If you consider yourself a beach body while on vacation, Deerfield Beach is a must for your bucket list. Deerfield Beach is among the top 10 cleanest beaches in the US according to the Clean Beach Council. After being awarded for its immaculate water quality, beach conditions, safety services, little to no crowding, and habitat conservation policies in 2019 it remains one of the best beaches to visit.

Today, Deerfield Beach stands at #5 on the Clean Beach Council’s list and is among many in the Deerfield Beach area. Of the 11 top-rated beaches in the US, 7 are located in Florida and are all within an approximate 45-minute drive (or less) from Deerfield Beach. You can check out the Clean Beach Coalition for more information on these beaches and why they are some of the best beaches in the US to visit.

Deerfield Beach is located in the heart of some of Florida’s most sought after destinations on the east coast! Located in Broward County, Florida, Deerfield Beach is just south of the Palm Beach County line and is only minutes to beautiful Boca Raton. Filled with incredible attractions, Boca Raton makes the perfect day trip for you, your family, and friends from your Deerfield Beach rental (see below for more info).

While you would be within 10 minutes from gorgeous attractions, other nearby cities include Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and Miami making Deerfield Beach the hot-spot for Floridian vacations.

What to do in Deerfield Beach:

  1. Shore Diving at the Deerfield Beach Pier:

Shore Diving in Deerfield Beach is almost as easy as a walk straight into the water with your gear in hand. With Reef sections both North and South of the Deerfield Beach Pier, the options are immense and the sights to see are even greater.

About a 5-minute walk north of the Deerfield Beach Pier and a 10-minute surface swim is where you will find the beautiful Turtle Reef. Destroyed in 2015, divers all around Deerfield Beach came together to reconstruct and bring aquatic life back to what was Turtle Reef. This spot has some incredible sights and is perfect for both beginner or expert divers. Turtle reef is one of many within Deerfield Beach as the city was marked a snorkeling destination after placing artificial reef’s amongst natural reef’s to maintain and grow it’s aquatic life.

If you are not certified to scuba dive on your own and are interested in learning, Deerfield Beach is filled with incredible resources to become certified. Dixie Divers is a 5 star dive shop that provides courses for beginner, intermediate, and advanced divers. With calm surrounding waters and some of the best marine life, shore diving in Deerfield Beach is an experience like no other.

You can also watch live streams of the reefs before you decide to go diving. This is a great tool to help you determine weather conditions, the number of fish in the area, and get a good idea of what you’ll see during your dive.

The following video is a recap of some of the best moments in June 2020’s live underwater live streams.

2. Watch the sunrise at Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier:

A one-stop fishing destination, the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier is a sight to see at all times of the day. With incredible views of the ocean, watching the sunrise off this pier will amaze you. The Pier is also one of the most sought out spots in Florida to fish, making this a fisher and sightseers dream attraction.

In order to walk the pier, you will need $1.00 cash per person. This fee helps maintain the pier for fishers and visitors. It also helps with crowd control, although this spot is not very busy. If you arrive at the Pier early enough in the morning you will have a front-row seat to some gorgeous views of the Floridian sunrise. So sit back, take in the incredible views, and make your fishing dreams come true at the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier.

The weather in Boca Raton is nearly perfect all year around, making it the ideal outdoor day trip for you and your guests! However, if you’re a beach body and feeling weary of taking a day from the sun and sand, Boca Raton has you covered! With access to beaches and marinas, you won’t feel like you’re missing a day from the water during your visit!

The main shopping strip in Boca Raton is full of vintage glamour and is the perfect spot to take a day to pamper yourself.

4. Check out the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center

During your glamours venture through Boca Raton, spare some time to visit the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. With almost 20 acres of a preserved coastal ecosystem, the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center may have a silly name, but it provides both a fun and an educational spot to visit for you and your guests.

Enjoy the Nature Center’s boardwalk, butterfly garden, and a sea turtle rehab center that is staffed by students and faculty from Florida Atlantic University. With so much to see and do, visitors should plan on spending between two and three hours at the Nature Center – but not to worry if you bring along little ones, as they will not get bored or fussy here.

While Admission into the Nature Center is free, it is encouraged that visitors donate as little as $5.00 to help support the many amazing things they are doing for marine life. The Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is a spot that should not be missed.

The Gumbo Limbo turtle rehab center is the right amount of both fun and education. Learn how they are saving sea turtles while viewing their exhibit.
