The city can get exhausting at times, and you may feel yourself in need of an escape. Just a few hours north from the city of Toronto is the town of Collingwood, a perfect destination for an active or relaxing weekend away. The scenic Blue Mountains and Georgian Bay offer its visitors a variety of things to do. What’s more, our two vacation homes in Collingwood are in the perfect location for you to enjoy any activity with ease.
Whether heading for an active family vacation or a relaxing girls weekend (or boys), here are our top pics on what to enjoy while you’re in town:
Enjoy Kawartha’s ice cream on a hot summers day at Blue Mountain Village’s Hatley Scoops
2. Rent SUP boards from Blue Surf Paddle Boards and Kayaks and go paddle boarding at Northwinds Beach
Your rentals will be delivered to the beach and all you have to do is take off! What better on a summer’s day.
3. Go relax at Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain
Here’s for all you relaxers: a day off at Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain! Enjoy hot and cold pools and various saunas. Make sure to book in advance, as space may be limited! If you’re really treating yourself, you might opt for a massage. You deserve it! Note that only people over the age of 19 are permitted. Bring your swimsuit & flip-flops
4. Go for a stroll at Collingwood Harbour
Take a sunset stroll at Collingwood Harbour, and admire the Collingwood Terminals, which were once used for grain production. What’s best, this is completely free!
5. The hiking opportunities are endless, but you can also take the open-air gondola up and down to enjoy views of the escaRpement
From Blue Mountain village, the gondola goes up for you to enjoy views of Georgian Bay. Hiking and mountain biking opportunities are also available! If you’re feeling energetic, you can hike up and take the gondola down (this you can do for free!)
Of course these are just a few of the many things to do in Collingwood: you can go visit the Scenic Caves, go and enjoy the day at restaurants and shoppes in Blue Mountain Village or just enjoy the beautiful nature. The world’s longest freshwater beach, Wasaga Beach, is also just a short car ride away.
We hope this post gave you excitement to explore the Collingwood area, and if you plan an overnight visit, you know just where to book your stay!
Best wishes,
